Lucky's Tattoo and Piercing in downtown Northampton, MA wanted to move far past the perception of piercing parlor as a dingy hideout for gruff sales staff and gothic introverts. We were hired to design an entirely new display area for their main sales floor. The goals were to limit the display area to reduce clutter and showcase the finest pieces they offer while vastly increasing storage space.
The design evolved slowly and grew to include subtle but complex details that highlighted some fine woodworking without drawing attention away from the jewelry. Details included occasional angled legs, angled corner cabinets, three way display miters and continuous horizontal veneers. The matte charcoal finish was a natural match for the metal jewelry which was brilliantly highlighted with the use of nearly invisible LED strip lighting.
While the project was exceptionally complex the result was well worth the work. The staff was thrilled and settled quickly in to a more elegant and functional workspace.
